Beyoncé recorded the track with her daughter Rumi, whose twin Sir – the two were born in summer 2017 – is not featured on the full-length. Though never released as a single, “Protector” is the song that Beyoncé’s most devoted fans have been flocking to in the wake of the tour’s launch. According to Billboard , from the three days leading up to the start of the Cowboy Carter Tour to the three days following its first update, streams of “Protector” surged by more than 200%. Between April 29 and May 1, the collaboration, which features Rumi speaking at the beginning of the tune, was played 438,000 times, a huge sum for a non-single. Beyoncé’s Dolly Parton Cover Grows The music magazine also noted that several other Cowboy Carter tracks experienced similarly-impressive gains. “Ya Ya,” a Grammy-nominated tune, jumped 147%. Beyoncé’s rendition of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” increased by 118% in the same time frame. Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Rises on the Billboard Charts Streams of Cowboy Carter in full grew by more than five million between just before the tour kicked off and when it was underway, more than doubling during that brief time span.
