Russia Faces 35% Gasoline Shortage After Attacks on Refineries

By: rootdata|2026/07/12 13:08:05

Gasoline production in Russia has dropped to 65% of the average seasonal consumption following attacks by Ukrainian drones that led to the shutdown of major oil refineries. Currently, there is a shortage of 40,000 to 45,000 tons of gasoline per day, which accounts for about 35% of the required volume. During peak summer consumption, the daily demand for gasoline is 115,000 to 120,000 tons. The shutdown of refineries such as NORSI and Omsk Refinery has exacerbated the situation. The Russian government is considering limiting the export of fuel, including gasoline and diesel. Fuel imports from Belarus have reached a record 6,000 tons of gasoline per day, and maritime supplies from India have also begun. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak noted the complexity of the situation, with queues at gas stations observed in several regions. An improvement in the situation is expected in the second half of July, provided there are no new attacks on refineries.
